Attorney General to Elections Committee Chair: “Law Enforcement Will Act to Prevent Improper Influence”

Central Elections Committee Chair and Supreme Court Justice Noam Sohlberg, along with acting director-general attorney Dean Livneh, met today (Sunday) with Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara, State Attorney Amit Isman, and their teams as part of preparations for the Knesset elections.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the commitment of all law-enforcement bodies to safeguarding the integrity of the elections and ensuring a proper electoral process. They discussed ways to strengthen enforcement against criminal violations of election laws, as well as enforcing the prohibition on blocking traffic routes on Election Day, in order to ensure that all voters can exercise their right to vote. They also discussed the legal aspects of improper influence on voters and ways to address it.

Baharav-Miara said: "Safeguarding the integrity of elections is one of the cornerstones of Israeli democracy. All law-enforcement bodies will work in full cooperation with the Central Elections Committee to ensure a proper, equal electoral process free of improper influence. I place my trust in the employees of the Elections Committee and in their professionalism and dedication, and I am confident that by joining forces, we will ensure that every citizen can exercise their right to vote with confidence and trust."
