Search Underway for Man Missing in the Sea of Galilee

A man in his 40s has been missing since Monday morning after he reportedly entered the waters of the Sea of Galilee and has not been seen since. According to police, his personal belongings were found at Trapaz Beach. Following the report, Sea of Galilee marine police officers, Northern District police forces, a helicopter from the aerial unit, and additional rescue teams launched a large-scale search operation to locate him.

After receiving the missing-person report, police began extensive searches in the area, deploying forces on land, in the air, and on the water. The operation includes officers from the marine policing unit, Northern District police, a police helicopter from the aerial unit, and additional rescue agencies.

Yossi Oknin, head of United Hatzalah's Tiberias branch, said: "At this stage, we are operating a United Hatzalah boat to locate him, while using the sonar system (technology for navigation, mapping, and detecting objects underwater through sound waves). More updates will follow."

For now, the search for the man continues, with all forces scanning the shoreline and the water in an effort to find him.

As a reminder, in August of last year, the body of Shlomi Banai, 38, of Tel Aviv, was found in the Sea of Galilee. Banai entered the lake on a stand-up paddleboard near Mosh Beach and then disappeared. Following a prolonged search operation, his body was located in the water by marine police.
