Iran’s President Says He Held a Seven-Hour Meeting With Mojtaba Khamenei

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said today (Monday) that he recently held a lengthy meeting with Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei, lasting seven consecutive hours. According to Pezeshkian, it was a "very good meeting," during which the two discussed a range of key issues on Iran’s agenda—most notably the country’s economic condition and the challenges facing its citizens.<\/p>

Pezeshkian addressed the meeting during a gathering with party secretaries-general and political activists at the Interior Ministry. In his remarks, he said the conversation with Khamenei lasted seven "consecutive" hours and was devoted to discussions on issues affecting the day-to-day lives of the Iranian public.<\/p>

According to Pezeshkian, the meeting focused on citizens’ economic circumstances, employment and housing issues, as well as the impact of ongoing economic restrictions on Iran’s economy. The two also discussed ways for the government and the public to deal with the challenges resulting from continued sanctions.<\/p>

Pezeshkian said that during the conversation, the Supreme Leader emphasized the importance of maintaining internal unity in the country. According to him, Khamenei warned of attempts by Iran’s enemies to stir internal divisions and harm national cohesion. He later quoted the message conveyed during the meeting: "There may be disagreements within the home, but outwardly we will speak with one voice, so that enemies know that Iran stands firm in defense of its independence."<\/p>

Iran’s president also addressed the economic hardship felt by the public, speaking directly to citizens: "If you see failures and difficulties amid hardship, know that we feel ashamed, but we will do everything possible to serve you and solve the problems."<\/p>

Pezeshkian’s remarks come after Khamenei’s office announced yesterday that he had met with the Iranian president to mark the beginning of the third year of the president’s term. Alongside the official announcement, the Iranian regime also recirculated an old video of Khamenei, as part of a series of posts meant to portray him as present, active, and continuing to manage the country’s affairs.<\/p>

The move stands out especially against the backdrop of Khamenei’s prolonged absence from public view. As his absence continues, assessments and rumors about his condition and the extent of his actual control over events in Iran have multiplied.<\/p>
