Guy Hochman Walks Into a Pro Palestinian Protest Wearing Tefillin

Israeli comedian Guy Hochman has become known for taking part in Israel’s public advocacy efforts around the world, often using humor as his primary tool. But his unconventional approach can sometimes put him in tense and potentially dangerous situations.

In a video filmed during a vacation in Greece, Hochman entered a pro Palestinian demonstration while calling out, “El Al Israel.”

At one point, Hochman put on tefillin in the middle of the street. Standing alongside a Chabad representative, he called out, “Shema Yisrael.”

Suddenly, a passerby shouted toward him, “Gaza belongs to Israel.”

Hochman responded, “Everything for peace, dear.”

Still wearing his tefillin, he turned toward the camera and added, “Guys, keep Jewish symbols discreet. The people of Israel live.”

Returning to the Protest

After finishing with his tefillin, Hochman returned to the demonstration.

He posed for a photo beside pro Palestinian protesters and told one woman, “Gaza will be liberated.”

“Absolutely,” she replied.

Hochman then completed his sentence:

“From Hamas.”

The exchange reflected the provocative humor that has become characteristic of Hochman’s public advocacy, particularly when confronting anti Israel demonstrations and messages abroad.

“My Dream Is to Become a Chabad Emissary”

Hochman has also spoken publicly about his connection to Judaism and Chabad.

In a previous interview with Hidabroot, he revealed that becoming a Chabad emissary is one of his dreams.

“The dream is to one day become a Chabad emissary, with Hashem’s help,” Hochman said. “I have the vibe and the energy, and I’m connected to Chabad. A lot of people tell me that this was probably what I was in a previous incarnation.”

For Hochman, humor, Jewish identity, and his outspoken support for Israel have increasingly become intertwined, even when expressing them means walking directly into the middle of a hostile protest.
