Trump: ‘We’re Going to Hit Iran Hard’

President Donald Trump said today (Monday) that there would be a response to Iran’s overnight attacks on the U.S. base in Jordan. Speaking to the media, Trump stressed: “We will hit them hard. There will be a response.” The American president added that every missile launched from Iran except one was intercepted by U.S. air defense systems. According to him, the remaining missile was identified as unlikely to hit any significant target, so it was allowed to continue on its trajectory.

Earlier today, Trump posted on his social media platform, Truth Social, writing that “Iran is officially a failed nation. It is dead! They have no Navy, they have no Air Force, they have no currency, they don’t pay their soldiers or police, inflation is at 300%, and their leadership is in total disarray and incapable of properly representing the country.” According to him, “The only thing they have is fake news from the U.S., willingness to kill their protesters, now over 100,000 dead. They should be tried for war crimes against humanity!, and a good line of ‘bullshit.’”

Meanwhile, the United Arab Emirates Defense Ministry denied Iranian reports claiming that Tehran had attacked the Al Minhad Air Base, saying they were “completely false.” In a separate statement, it said Emirati forces had acted against a drone that arrived from Iran over the country’s territorial waters.

At the same time, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy said that a tanker attempting to cross through the southern route of the Strait of Hormuz was struck by two naval mines and caught fire. “The tanker attempted to cross through the illegal passage and was completely stopped. We again warn of the fate of vessels that violate security regulations in the strait. The regulations issued by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy regarding passage must be followed. Shipping companies must not follow American military provocations or endanger their assets and the lives of their crews.”

Amid the possibility that the United States would continue its attacks inside Iran today, which resumed last night, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian met with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit to Kyrgyzstan. According to Iranian reports, Pezeshkian said at the meeting that “Iran fulfilled its commitments under the agreements, but unfortunately the United States did not fulfill its commitments. Nevertheless, we continue trying to reach an agreement and believe that continuing the war is not in our interest, not in the interest of the region, and not in the interest of humanity. We believe that the solution to the existing problems is dialogue and cooperation. Iran and India can improve their economic cooperation by neutralizing the effects of sanctions.”
