Iranian President: ‘We Will Continue Our Resistance With Strength’

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian wrote today (Tuesday) on his X account that “Iran will continue its resistance with strength until the ‘attackers’ regret it. The Islamic Republic of Iran has always opposed war. However, just as it has courageously risen to defend itself against aggression until now, it will continue its resistance and continue to protect the rights of the people.”

Several media outlets reported that Iran is signaling a shift toward a more offensive military policy, under which it seeks to expand the conflict beyond the Strait of Hormuz and threaten U.S. warships, oil tankers and energy facilities across the Persian Gulf.

According to the Iranian opposition-affiliated website Iran International, the move is intended to raise the economic and military cost of the blockade the United States is imposing on Tehran. As previously reported, three days ago the Revolutionary Guards launched missiles toward a U.S. aircraft carrier and destroyer.

Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump declared overnight (between Monday and Tuesday) that oil prices would “plunge sharply” after the U.S. wins the war with Iran. In a post on his social media platform, Trump claimed that gas prices would be “three dollars a gallon, and ultimately less than two dollars a gallon. Everything will happen quickly, and Iran will never have a nuclear weapon,” the American president added in his statement.

Alongside the president’s promise, U.S. Central Command said that over the past day, its forces diverted two vessels as part of the naval blockade against Iran. The blockade, renewed on July 14 after the collapse of the temporary understandings, includes preventing ships from entering and leaving Iranian ports.
