Hostage Survivor Eitan Mor’s Moving Resolution for the New Year

Ahead of the new year, hostage survivor Eitan Mor decided to remove all the tattoos he had accumulated on his arms over the years.

"When I was in Gaza, I would thank Father in Heaven every day, even on the difficult days; it truly helped me," Mor said. "Now, before the new year, I decided to remove the tattoos. I want to cleanse myself and wish myself and everyone a year of renewal, a year of version updates, and a year of experiences."

In an interview with Makor Rishon after returning from captivity, Mor spoke about the severe hunger: "You tell yourself, 'Think about your family,' but your mind thinks only about food. You try to think about Grandma, but somehow your thoughts drift to the meatballs she makes. How good they taste.

"And despite all that, every evening we made sure to say thank you. Thank you for what happened that day. Thank you that the pita we received had no sand in it. Thank you for the coffee pot they gave us. Even though I am hungry, even though I lost 15 kilos, every day we say thank you for what we have. Because we think about the bereaved families and the wounded. Thank you that our bodies are whole, maybe not our weight, but we are still alive."
