On the Eve of Rosh Hashanah, Israel’s Population Tops 10 Million for the First Time

For the first time, the number of Israeli citizens has surpassed the 10 million mark. The Central Bureau of Statistics announced today (Wednesday), ahead of the new year, that Israel’s population is estimated at approximately 10,305,000 people.

CBS data also show that since last Rosh Hashanah, Israel’s population has grown by approximately 124,000 people, an increase of 1.2%. Over the past year, around 182,000 babies were born in Israel, while approximately 50,000 people died.

The data also found that the international migration balance was negative. Approximately 57,000 Israelis emigrated abroad. Over the past year, 18,800 Israelis returned to the country from abroad, compared with 24,200 in 2024. Around 24,000 new immigrants arrived in Israel, along with approximately 4,000 people who came through family reunification.

Israel has approximately 7.767 million Jewish residents (78.3% of the country’s population) and approximately 2.149 million Arab residents (21.7% of the country’s population). The foreign population was estimated at approximately 286,700 residents.
