Germany: Hamas Operatives Allegedly Planned Attacks on Israeli Diplomats

German media reported today (Monday) that Hamas allegedly established weapons caches across Europe and planned attacks ahead of the anniversary of October 7.

Germany’s federal prosecutor announced that it had filed indictments against seven people for obtaining weapons for Hamas. According to the prosecution, "All of the defendants belong to the foreign terrorist organization Hamas. Some time ago, the organization’s military wing, known as the Al-Qassam Brigades, began setting up weapons caches in Europe. Hamas planned, by no later than July 2025, a specific assassination in Germany or Austria, intended to target representatives of Israel, members of the Jewish faith, or people with pro-Israel views." Seven suspects were arrested between October 2025 and May 2026.

The statement further noted that "the attack was meant to take place close to the second anniversary of Hamas’s attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, meaning in early October 2025."

The indictment listed the nationalities, first names, and first letters of the suspects’ last names: Abd al-G. (a German citizen), Yusuf S. (a Danish citizen), Burhan al-K. (born in Lebanon), Wael P.-M. (born in Lebanon), Ahmad A. (a German citizen), Kamel M. (born in Lebanon), and Muhammad S. (a Bulgarian citizen). German law protects the surnames of criminal suspects for privacy reasons.

According to the report, the attacks were planned for Berlin and Austria’s capital, Vienna. The newspaper Die Welt reported that the terrorist attacks were intended to strike Israeli and Jewish targets in both capitals simultaneously or in close succession, with plans to target Israeli diplomats, Jewish community centers, and attendees at pro-Israel demonstrations.
