Polish policeThe spokesperson for Poland’s minister responsible for coordinating intelligence services revealed on Sunday that Polish police had received information about a possible assassination plot targeting Prime Minister Donald Tusk and his deputy, Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz.
According to the statement, authorities have not yet determined how far the alleged assassination plans had progressed or who was behind the suspected plot.
The reported threat comes amid Poland’s continued support for Ukraine in its war against Russia. Over the past year, senior Polish government officials have repeatedly emphasized their commitment to supporting Ukraine against Russian aggression.
Prime Minister Tusk has warned of escalating threats from Moscow, including possible missile and drone attacks intended to destabilize countries that support Ukraine.
The Russian threat has also reportedly expanded to acts of physical sabotage targeting infrastructure in Poland. Recent attempts to damage railway lines and border crossings, which serve as vital routes for diplomatic and military supplies to Ukraine, have reportedly been thwarted.
Authorities have also apprehended individuals suspected of operating on behalf of Russian intelligence services.
