The move comes as tensions with Iran persist and the military confrontation between Saudi Arabia and the Houthis in Yemen intensifies, with several targets inside the Saudi kingdom coming under attack in recent days.
Israel to Hold Security Meeting on Four Regional Fronts
A high-level security meeting is expected to take place in Israel on Sunday evening to assess developments across four major fronts: the Gaza Strip, Lebanon, Syria, and Iran.
The meeting follows several days of heightened alert and military readiness amid growing concerns that ongoing conflicts could spread throughout the region.
Pentagon Prepares for Possible Large-Scale Military Campaign Against Iran
The latest developments follow reports on Wednesday that the Pentagon had instructed US Central Command (CENTCOM) to complete preparations for the possibility of renewed large-scale military operations against Iran.
However, the directive did not establish a date for an attack, and US President Donald Trump has yet to decide whether to authorize military action.
A day later, Trump declared that the United States would not strike Iran before the November 3 midterm elections. At the same time, he emphasized that Washington would not allow Tehran to acquire nuclear weapons.
Despite the president's statements, additional reports emerged that evening indicating that the Pentagon had developed plans for a major military strike against Iran.
Israeli officials are particularly concerned about the possibility of a miscalculation by one of the parties involved in the escalating tensions. Such an error, they fear, could trigger a broader regional conflict even if none of the parties initially intends to enter into a full-scale war.
Saudi Arabia and Houthis Exchange Attacks
Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia continues to face repeated attacks by the Houthis, who have targeted locations across the kingdom, including airports and energy infrastructure.
In response, Riyadh has intensified its airstrikes against targets in Yemen.
The escalation also comes amid threats made by President Trump on Saturday concerning the ongoing Houthi attacks, adding another layer of uncertainty to an already volatile regional situation.
