Israeli social media personality Or Ben David has chosen to celebrate his birthday differently this year, exchanging parties and festivities for a meaningful spiritual journey to Uman, Ukraine. “This year, I decided to celebrate my birthday differently, without parties and without too much noise,” Ben David wrote to his followers. “After dreaming about it for so long, I finally had the privilege of traveling to Uman.”

For Ben David, the visit represents the fulfillment of a long-held dream and an opportunity to begin a new year of his life with prayer and spiritual reflection. “There is no greater gift than this for me,” he wrote. “Father, thank You for the privilege of fulfilling a dream and beginning my new year in a place where I have wanted to be for so long.”

Several months earlier, Ben David shared another emotional experience with his followers, describing a visit to the Ohel, the resting place of the Lubavitcher Rebbe in New York, where he went to pray for the Jewish people.

“Every time I land in New York, the first thing I do is go to the Ohel to pray,” he wrote. “Whenever I arrive, the tears begin flowing on their own. I become emotional as though it's my first time there.”

During that visit, Ben David said his prayers focused on the welfare and unity of the Jewish people, particularly amid the challenges facing Israel. “This time, I came to pray for the people of Israel, that all the hostages return home soon, that the Holy One, blessed be He, protect the IDF and our security forces, and that our nation return to being the eternal people, the most united nation, filled with unconditional love.”

Removing His Tattoos and Growing Closer to Judaism

In recent months, Ben David has spoken openly about the spiritual transformation he has been undergoing. As part of his growing commitment to Judaism, he made the significant personal decision to remove his tattoos, describing the step as an expression of his desire to strengthen his relationship with God.

“I believe in the Holy One, blessed be He, and I know there is a Creator of this world,” he explained. “I decided to remove the tattoos from my body and grow closer to religion.”
