(Photo: Chaim Goldberg, Flash90)The Likud party released an unusual statement Wednesday evening containing serious allegations against the Arab parties, which it accused of attempting to manipulate the election results through a series of criminal offenses. The party claims to have hundreds of testimonies and pieces of evidence concerning alleged violations at numerous polling stations in Arab communities and is demanding that law enforcement authorities launch a comprehensive investigation. The Central Elections Committee responded that it had received Likud’s request and was reviewing it.
The Likud statement read: “The election in the State of Israel was stolen by Arab parties that support terror and the destruction of the Jewish state, through serious criminal offenses of bribery, threats, violence, forgery and the use of prohibited software to drive voter turnout.”
In its statement, the party detailed a series of suspected voting irregularities, including the alleged distribution of thousands of envelopes containing cash and Ra’am ballot slips, threats and violence against polling station committee members, and instances of multiple voters entering behind the voting booth curtain at the same time. Likud also alleged cases of voting under multiple identities, discrepancies between the number of envelopes and registered voters, and the use of prohibited software designed to encourage voter turnout.
Likud announced that it is transferring the materials in its possession to the Israel Police, the Shin Bet security service, and the Central Elections Committee. The party also demanded that police and the Shin Bet thoroughly investigate the allegations and prosecute those responsible to the fullest extent of the law if the suspected offenses are confirmed.
The party also called on the Central Elections Committee to address the allegations immediately and investigate the suspected criminal offenses, which it claims had a significant impact on the integrity of the election and its results.
The statement concluded: “This is a serious blow to Israeli democracy and to the right of Israel's citizens to vote. The law enforcement bodies must act with a firm hand and immediately.”
