The announcement coincided with the US midterm elections, and among those indicted was a 35-year-old Israeli woman living in California.

Israeli Woman Accused of Illegally Voting in 2024 Presidential Election
In California, six foreign nationals were charged in connection with allegedly making false statements during naturalization proceedings. Among them is Moria Dahan, an Israeli citizen who holds lawful permanent resident status in the United States. According to the indictment, Dahan unlawfully registered to vote and cast a ballot in the November 5, 2024, presidential election after falsely declaring under oath that she was a US citizen.
Approximately one year later, on November 6, 2025, Dahan allegedly submitted an application for US citizenship in which she claimed that she had never represented herself as an American citizen or registered to vote in a US election.
Federal law provides for a maximum penalty of five years in prison for certain offenses involving illegal voting or fraudulent voter registration. Penalties may reach ten years or more depending on applicable state laws and additional charges.

According to Justice Department figures, 195 foreign nationals have been prosecuted in 25 states over the past nine weeks. Since the Trump administration took office, a total of 239 individuals have reportedly faced prosecution for election-fraud-related offenses.
The latest indictments come as Americans vote in the midterm elections, placing renewed attention on election integrity, voter eligibility, and the enforcement of federal voting laws. The charges remain allegations, and the defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
