Besamim by Havdalah
Question: I had a cold last week and was very stuffy or a few days. When it came Motzei Shabbat time to make Havdalah I wasn’t sure I could say a bracha on the Besamim. At that point my nose somewhat clear but I still could not smell half the time. I told my wife to make the bracha, but could I have made the bracha hoping that I would be able to smell it?
Question: I have a serious operation scheduled right before Rosh Chodesh Nissan and it might take me weeks to recover. During that time won’t be able to get out of bed for the whole month of Nissan at least. Can I say the Bracha on the trees just before Nissan? Or maybe can I say it right after Nissan when I can get out of the house?
Travelling before Pesach
Question: We live in Belgium and we are planning to come to Eretz Yisroel of Purim to visit family, stay for three weeks and then return to Belgium for Pesach. Do we need to do a Bedikat Chametz before we leave? If so, od we need to say a Bracha?
Learning Torah during Chazarat HaShatz
Question: To the Rabbi: In our Kehillah for Shacharit there have been big arguments lately. One part of the Tzibur are very Makpid on Daf Hayomi. If they are behind many of them will continue learning the Daf to catch up during Chazarat HaShatz. So, the other others by the Minyan got upset that they are not paying attention in to the Chazzan. The learners claim that anyway today there is no actual obligation for Chazarat HaShatz since we have siddurim everyone knows the Tefilla. Iven still they are answering Amen so there is a minyan answering. Are they allowed to continue or not?
