The Knesset plenum approved in a first reading a bill to split the role of the attorney general into two separate positions: attorney general and chief prosecutor. The proposal passed with a majority of 65 Knesset members in favor and 47 opposed, and will now move to further discussions in the Constitution Committee.

Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara has decided to file an indictment against Yonatan Urich in the "Bild" affair. Urich is accused of passing classified information and destroying evidence, after the State Attorney's position was adopted.

Multiple reports say committee chair Asher Grunis dissented over a past case involving teen operative Ori Elmakias; the attorney general flagged a "legal difficulty," and petitions to the High Court are expected.
