Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara has asked Israel’s High Court to halt implementation of the new Police Internal Investigations Department law and freeze the creation of the new unit. Knesset legal adviser Sagit Afik, by contrast, argues there is no basis for issuing interim orders.

The family of Alon Shamriz, who was mistakenly shot and killed in Gaza by IDF soldiers while escaping Hamas captivity, asked that he be recognized as a fallen IDF soldier. The justices rejected the request, saying Shamriz “does not meet the formal criterion for classification.”

After a marathon ten-hour hearing, justices took under advisement a petition to remove National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir.
