Asher Yatzar Blessing (Photo: shutterstock)The Asher Yatzar blessing is a blessing of gratitude, in which we thank the Holy One, Blessed be He, for providing us with openings in our body through which we can eliminate the waste that accumulates within the body, for without these openings and the body's waste disposal system – we would not be able to exist. This blessing is also intended to remind us of the great wonder of the human body, so that we do not take it for granted, but rather remember to thank Hashem for all His kindnesses, both small and large.
In recent years, many have mentioned the important segulah (spiritual remedy) found in reciting Asher Yatzar with intention, preferably from a written text. It is known that Rabbi Chaim Kanievsky, of blessed memory, was very careful to recite the Asher Yatzar blessing from the written text, and Rebbetzin Batsheva Kanievsky, of blessed memory, was also very careful about this. The Rebbetzin even recommended to many to recite the Asher Yatzar blessing from the text as a segulah for digestive problems and other issues, and she told of great salvations experienced by people who were meticulous about saying the blessing with great intention and from the written word.
It is highly recommended to print the text of the blessing in clear and illuminating letters, and to hang it next to the sink designated for washing hands after leaving the restroom.
The Text Of The Asher Yatzar Blessing:
