IDF Hits Iranian Navy Missile Boats in First-Ever Caspian Sea Strike

The IDF yesterday (Wednesday) carried out, for the first time, strikes against Iranian Navy targets in the Caspian Sea. According to the IDF Spokesperson, this was an unusual operation in both scope and location, aimed at degrading Iran's naval capabilities in the country's north. The strike was conducted by Air Force aircraft, guided by intelligence from the Navy and the Military Intelligence Directorate (Aman), and hit a series of key Iranian Navy infrastructure sites.

According to the IDF, which released special footage from the rare strike, the operation focused on a military port of the Iranian Navy, subordinate to Iran's army, where dozens of vessels were moored. Targets struck included missile boats, auxiliary ships, and patrol boats, along with a central headquarters from which operational activity in the Caspian Sea was directed.

In addition, a key facility used for repair and routine maintenance of the vessels was struck. The IDF noted that the missile boats that were hit were equipped with air-defense systems and additional anti-submarine missiles.

The statement emphasized that the port served the Iranian Navy for operational activity, and that this activity "has now been foiled with the strike on the port and the vessels nearby". It was further stated that this was one of the most significant strikes since the start of the operation, carried out through close cooperation between Air Force and Navy commanders from within the Air Force's command bunker.

The IDF assessed that the damage to infrastructure and vessels is expected to affect the Iranian Navy's control of the maritime domain in the Caspian Sea and degrade its operational capabilities. The statement concluded: "The IDF will continue to deepen its strikes against the core arrays of the Iranian terror regime and its foundations".
