Finding a vegan burger that tastes great and has a satisfying texture can be a challenge. Too often, store bought versions are filled with preservatives and heavily processed ingredients.

The secret? A rich blend of black beans, mushrooms, and flavorful spices creates a burger with amazing taste and a texture that looks and feels like the real thing. If you want a wholesome vegan burger packed with flavor, this recipe is for you.

What You'll Need

1 large onion

1½ cups cooked black beans

500 grams chopped mushrooms

3 garlic cloves

½ cup chickpea flour

Chopped celery

2 tablespoons olive oil

1 teaspoon Himalayan salt

Ground pepper, to taste

Cumin, to taste

Sweet paprika, to taste

Turmeric, to taste

Shawarma seasoning, to taste

Optional: Crushed chili

How to Make It

Prepare the Vegetables

In a skillet or pot, sauté the chopped onion until softened.

Add the mushrooms and cook for about 5 minutes.

Remove from the heat and allow the mixture to cool.

Prepare the Burger Mixture

Place the black beans, garlic, chickpea flour, celery, olive oil, salt, and spices into a food processor.

Pulse until combined.

Transfer the mixture to a bowl and add the cooked onions and mushrooms.

Mix everything well.

Shape and Bake

Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or prepare an electric baking tray.

Form burger patties in your preferred size. Wet hands or a cookie cutter can help create evenly shaped patties.

Bake for 35 to 40 minutes, or until the burgers become firm and set.

Serving Ideas

These burgers are delicious in a variety of ways:

Classic burger style: Serve in a bun with lettuce, tomato, and sliced onions.

Fresh and light: Pair with a salad made with lettuce, cabbage, cherry tomatoes, tahini, and pickles.

Something different: Simmer a tomato sauce and place the patties inside to absorb extra flavor.

Healthy, satisfying, and packed with flavor, these homemade vegan black bean burgers prove you do not need processed ingredients to create a truly delicious burger.
