Brig. Gen. Markizano will be promoted to the rank of major general and will replace Maj. Gen. Roman Gofman, who was appointed by the prime minister to head the Mossad.
Netanyahu's new military secretary previously served, among other roles, as commander of Battalion 405, an artillery formation, commander of Fire Brigade 209, commander of Fire Brigade 215, head of the Planning Department in the Ground Forces, and chief of staff of the Northern Command. In his most recent position, he served as the military secretary to the defense minister.
The Prime Minister's Office explained that Brig. Gen. Markizano has gained extensive experience coordinating between the political and military leadership, and will therefore be able to enter the role immediately without the need for a transition period.
