Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu today (Thursday) raised a toast for Rosh Hashanah 5787 with Defense Minister Israel Katz, IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir and members of the IDF General Staff Forum.

Netanyahu told those present: “What was achieved during three years of the War of Revival and in the time that has passed since ‘Roaring Lion,’ and even before that, ‘Rising Lion’, these are historic achievements that ensure our continued existence. We faced the danger of annihilation by a regime that seeks to destroy us, that wants to arm itself with nuclear bombs to destroy us. We have pushed back this threat, as well as other threats.”

“This regime is currently faltering. It is weaker than ever. It is fighting for its life, and I am confident in the central mission before us, in our ability, in the ability of our brave soldiers, our brave pilots, the female pilots and navigators, and all the rest of our forces, in the home-front system and our strong people. I am confident in our ability to remove this threat once and for all. That is, to bring down this regime. This is the central mission still before us, but it is close. It is not impossible. It is within reach.”

“They are not simply refraining from attacking us. They attack everyone, just not us. They know our strength, the force of our arm and our determination. I say to our enemies: Do not mess with us. If you have learned anything, do not mess with us. We have the strength, the determination and the internal unity to overcome you, and that is what I wish for the people of Israel in the coming year, in the near future. A good year to you.”
