Ingredients
Makes 12 rolls
- 7 oz (200 g) butter-flavored margarine, softened
- 2½ cups self-rising flour
- 1 container plain yogurt
- 1 cup Bulgarian cheese, crumbled
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp vinegar
- ½ cup kashkaval cheese, grated
- ½ container cottage cheese
- Pinch of salt
For the Topping
- 1 egg, beaten
- ½ cup sesame seeds
- 12 olives
Directions
- In a large bowl, combine the flour, margarine, yogurt, Bulgarian cheese, egg, vinegar, kashkaval cheese, cottage cheese, and salt.
- Mix until a soft, uniform dough forms.
- Cover the bowl and refrigerate the dough for about 1 hour.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Divide the dough into 12 equal portions and shape each one into a ball.
- Arrange the dough balls on the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between them to allow for expansion during baking.
- Brush each roll with beaten egg and sprinkle generously with sesame seeds.
- Press one olive into the center of each roll.
- Bake for about 20 minutes, or until the rolls are puffed and golden brown.
- Allow to cool slightly before serving.
