Rich, silky, and intensely chocolatey, this elegant chocolate truffle pie looks like it came straight from a bakery display case.

A buttery crust filled with smooth dark chocolate ganache and topped with a glossy chocolate layer creates a dessert that's perfect for Shabbat, holidays, special occasions, or anytime you want to impress with minimal effort.

Ingredients

For the Crust

5.3 oz (150 g) butter, softened (or margarine for a pareve version)

½ cup almond flour

8 tbsp sugar

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 egg yolk

Zest of 1 orange

For the Filling

8.8 oz (250 g) dark chocolate, chopped

0.7 oz (20 g) butter (or margarine for a pareve version)

4 tbsp sugar

2 eggs

1 cup heavy cream (or non-dairy cream)

For the Topping

3.5 oz (100 g) milk chocolate (or dark chocolate for a pareve version)

⅓ cup (100 ml) heavy cream (or non-dairy cream)

Directions

Prepare the Crust

In a food processor or stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, combine all the crust ingredients and mix until a smooth dough forms.

Wrap the dough and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.

Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C).

Roll out the chilled dough and press it into a 10-inch (26 cm) pie pan or tart pan.

Bake for 12 minutes, until lightly set but not deeply browned.

Remove from the oven and set aside.

Make the Filling

In a small saucepan, combine the heavy cream, butter, and sugar. Bring to a gentle boil.

Remove from the heat and add the chopped dark chocolate. Stir until completely melted and smooth.

Allow the mixture to cool slightly, then whisk in the eggs until fully incorporated.

Pour the filling into the prepared crust.

Reduce the oven temperature to 320°F (160°C) and bake for 10 minutes.

Remove from the oven and let the pie cool completely.

Prepare the Topping

Place the chocolate and cream in a microwave-safe bowl or heatproof bowl set over simmering water.

Heat until melted and smooth, then stir well.

Pour the topping over the cooled pie and spread evenly with a spatula.

Refrigerate until fully set before serving.

Serving Tip

For an extra-elegant presentation, garnish with chocolate curls, fresh berries, or a light dusting of cocoa powder just before serving.
