Reports from Iran said this morning (Monday) that air defense systems were activated in the Kermanshah area in the western part of the country. According to reports from the Iranian news agency Mehr, the systems were activated after the detection of "hostile targets" in the area.

The reports come as Israel continues its retaliatory strikes inside Iranian territory. Earlier, the IDF spokesperson said the Israeli Air Force had carried out strikes on several targets in the petrochemical complex in Mahshahr, in southern Iran. Before that, another wave of strikes was reported, including about 15 separate attacks. According to foreign reports, targets were hit in Tehran, Isfahan, Tabriz, Karaj, and Kermanshah.

According to the reports, a significant portion of the strikes was aimed at Iran's air defense systems, radar facilities, and underground launch sites for surface-to-surface missiles. In Kermanshah, it was claimed, air defense systems were struck alongside missile arrays. Iranian reports said targets at Mehrabad Airport in Tehran were hit, while Al Jazeera also reported a strike on a drone warehouse in the Iranian capital.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said this morning that it had attacked the Nevatim and Tel Nof air bases in response to strikes carried out against radar sites at three different locations across Iran. The statement said that "all operational units of the Revolutionary Guards are at full alert to carry out a broad and deterrent operation on all fronts, and have prepared plans of action matching the enemy's various scenarios."

Meanwhile, Israel's ambassador to the United States, Yechiel Leiter, addressed the targets of the Israeli strikes in Iran and revealed additional details about the nature of the sites that were chosen. According to him, "after Iran fired 11 missiles, Israel set as its targets surface-to-surface missile launch sites, as well as military infrastructure unrelated to the energy industry."

Leiter also addressed the situation in Lebanon and Iran's influence in the region: "The people of Lebanon rejected Hezbollah as a proxy of Iran and told Iran to get out of their country." He added a direct warning to the Lebanese organization: "If Hezbollah continues firing at Israel, its command centers in Dahieh will be hit hard — and that has nothing to do with Iran."
