Apple and Pear Latkes: A Golden Cinnamon Treat for Any Time of Day

  • 2 large apples or 1 container of applesauce

  • 1 pear

  • 1 egg

  • 4 tablespoons flour

  • 1 tablespoon sugar

  • 1 level tablespoon cinnamon

  • 1 packet vanilla sugar

  • 1 teaspoon honey (optional)

  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Peel the apples and wash them thoroughly.

  2. Peel the pear and grate both the apples and pear using a coarse grater.

  3. Mix well.

  4. Add the sugar and cinnamon and stir again.

  5. Add the flour, egg, vanilla sugar, and honey (if using). Mix until well combined.

  6. Heat oil in a frying pan.

  7. Scoop a spoonful of the mixture and carefully place it into the hot oil.

  8. Fry the fritters on both sides until golden brown.

  9. Transfer the fritters to a plate lined with paper towels to absorb excess oil.

  10. If desired, dust with powdered sugar before serving.
