Defense Minister ישראל כ"ץ signed sanctions orders today (Wednesday) against 37 digital wallets that were a central part of the Revolutionary Guards’ terror-financing infrastructure. Cryptocurrency worth more than 24 million shekels in total was identified in the wallets.

The investigation found that the wallets were used to transfer funds to terror organizations backed by Iran, led by Hezbollah, which is in need of funding sources following the damage it sustained during the fighting against Israel. An in-depth analysis conducted on the wallets, which were part of this infrastructure and were also identified, among other things, as linked to Hezbollah, found that tens of millions of dollars were transferred through it over the years to terror organizations.

The minister’s statement said that "the move is another layer in the economic campaign being led by the National Bureau for Counter Terror Financing (NBCTF) in the Defense Ministry against the financing infrastructure of the Revolutionary Guards and its proxies, including Hezbollah, Hamas, and the Houthis. Disrupting the financing route is the result of integrated intelligence, operational, and legal activity by the National Bureau for Counter Terror Financing in the Defense Ministry together with additional security agencies."

The defense minister said: "The campaign against Iran is not being conducted only on the battlefield, but also in the fight over the money that drives terrorism. Every dollar kept from the Revolutionary Guards is a dollar that will not reach Hezbollah, Hamas, the Houthis, and Iran’s terror proxies. We will continue to strike all financing routes of the Iranian terror axis, everywhere and by every means."

NBCTF head יוראי מצלאוי said: "Even in the crypto space, there is no immunity for terror financiers. The NBCTF will continue to locate, expose, and strike the financing infrastructure of Iran and its proxies, wherever they operate."
