It was cleared for publication Tuesday evening that a Defense Ministry contractor was killed earlier that day by an explosive drone in southern Lebanon.

The IDF Spokesperson said the man, an employee of a contracting company carrying out engineering work on behalf of the Defense Ministry, was struck and killed during operational activity. His son, who was working alongside him, was lightly wounded. The family was notified by Israel Police. “The IDF and the Defense Ministry share the family’s grief,” the statement said.

Ziv Medical Center in Safed reported that a 19-year-old from Shfaram was evacuated after being hit by shrapnel in the incident. The hospital confirmed that his father, an earthworks contractor working in the IDF combat zone across the border, was killed.

The son was treated in the trauma unit and classified in mild physical condition, though he was also suffering from anxiety and acute emotional distress. Hospital social services assisted him and his family, and he was later discharged home after stabilization.
