As previously reported, on 07/06/2026, Omar Mundar Yassin, an Israeli citizen from Tayibe, carried out a deadly shooting attack at several locations in Kochav Yair, Tzur Yitzhak, and Sal'it. In the attack, Chaim Klomiti הי"ד, a member of Tzur Natan’s emergency response team, was murdered, and several other civilians were wounded. The attacker was eliminated by officers from the Tayibe police station after a brief chase.
After the attack, Ala Din J'heim and Waam Matzarwa, Israeli citizens from Tayibe, and Muhammad Aftima, a resident of Baka al-Gharbiya, were arrested for questioning by the police and the Shin Bet on suspicion of awareness of and involvement in the attack.
The investigation of Ala Din and Waam found that they were aware of the attacker’s intention to carry out an attack and did not prevent it from happening. The investigation also uncovered additional details about the attacker’s conduct in the days leading up to the attack. In addition, Muhammad Aftima’s interrogation found that he was the one who supplied the Carlo weapon used by the attacker.
