“Neria Needs a Miracle”: Israeli Ambassador to the U.S.’s Son Critically Wounded in Ramming Attack

Neria Dov Leiter, the son of Israel’s ambassador to the United States, Dr. Yechiel Leiter, is the soldier who was wounded today (Wednesday) in the vehicular ramming attack on Route 443. His family has been notified, and his condition is critical. Leiter was taken to Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem following the attack.

Ambassador Leiter wrote while on his way back to Israel: “I thank the IDF and the medical team at Shaare Zedek, who are now fighting for the life of Neria Dov ben Chana, as well as the prayers of the people of Israel. I believe in the power of prayer, and I believe that when the people of Israel unite, miracles happen. Neria needs a miracle.”

Leiter also wrote: “Neria continued serving in the reserves after losing his older brother, Moshe Yedidya Leiter, may his blood be avenged, and he has served hundreds of reserve-duty days on different fronts since October 7. Palestinian terrorism seeks to uproot the people of Israel from their land. They choose death, we choose life.”

The attack occurred earlier today near the Bell checkpoint in the Binyamin Brigade area. The terrorist drove his vehicle toward a patrol car from the Israel Police’s Judea and Samaria District, where a police officer and an IDF soldier were operating as part of a joint operation. Security forces at the scene responded with gunfire and killed the terrorist at the scene.

The Binyamin Regional Council spokesperson said: “In the attack that took place today near Route 443, reserve fighter Neria Leiter, the son of Chani and Yechiel from the community of Eli, was wounded. The family asks the public to pray for the recovery of Neria Dov ben Chana.”

MDA paramedic Yishai Mor and medics Yechiel Frankenhuis and Avraham Lavi said: “We saw a great commotion and a man in his 40s who was unconscious and suffering from severe injuries to his body after being run over. Together with IDF medical forces, we provided life-saving medical treatment and evacuated him by MDA ambulance to the hospital in serious condition.”
