Five people were killed and 16 others were injured in an explosion that took place today (Thursday) at a cafe in Damascus, according to an update from Syrian authorities and local media. At first, the Syrian Health Ministry reported through the state news agency "SANA" that four people had been killed and 10 wounded, but it was later updated that the death toll had risen to five and the number of injured to 16.

According to reports from Syrian state television, the explosion occurred near the Palace of Justice in Syria's capital. The Syrian channel "Al-Ikhbariya" reported that the source of the explosion was an explosive device planted inside the cafe.

The state news agency "SANA" reported that the circumstances of the explosion are still unclear. So far, no group has claimed responsibility for the incident, and the authorities have not yet provided additional details regarding the identity of those responsible or the background that led to the explosion.
