According to the IDF, the two terrorists were targeted after being identified as posing a threat to troops operating on the ground.
One of those killed was Muhammad Najib Ashur, a commander in Hamas's Nukhba unit, the terrorist organization's elite military force. The second was Tamer Saeed Abu Nahl, who served as a cell leader in Hamas's military wing.
The IDF said both men were actively involved in planning terrorist operations against Israeli forces in Gaza. Based on intelligence gathered about their activities, the military carried out two separate strikes last week to eliminate the threat.
The IDF added that Southern Command forces continue operating throughout the Gaza Strip in accordance with existing operational directives while maintaining a high level of readiness and working to neutralize ongoing threats.
"IDF forces under Southern Command are deployed in the area in accordance with the agreement and will continue operating to remove any immediate threat," the military said in a statement.
