4-Year-Old Missing in Ashkelon as Shin Bet Joins Search

The father of 4-year-old Yuval Kogan reported this afternoon that his son disappeared in the dunes by the beach in Ashkelon while the two were out walking. Police, with the help of volunteers, are searching on land and at sea. The Shin Bet has been asked to assist.

The Shin Bet joined the search efforts this evening (Thursday), alongside officers from the Southern District and many volunteers, for 4-year-old Yuval Kogan, who was last seen this morning near Hofit Beach in Ashkelon. Taking part in the search are Shin Bet forces, Israel Police, the aerial unit, the marine police, divers from the police volunteer units, volunteers, and additional emergency and rescue personnel.

The incident began at around 1:00 p.m., when the father called police and reported that his 4-year-old son had disappeared in the dune area near the northern beach in Ashkelon. According to his account, the two were in the dunes between the cliff and the shoreline, and at a certain point the child disappeared from his sight.

Police asked for the public's help in locating Yuval, alongside the extensive search efforts and investigation. According to the police statement, Yuval is described as having a slim build and brown hair, and he was wearing a green shirt. Anyone who knows anything about Yuval Kogan's whereabouts, or has information that could help locate him, is asked to call the Israel Police hotline at 100 or the Ashkelon Police Station at 08-6771440.
