North Korea Says It Will Not Give Up Its Nuclear Weapons
Kim Yo Jong, the sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, responded to a demand from Southeast Asian nations that North Korea dismantle its nuclear arsenal. She stressed: "This is a foolish demand."

North Korea has rejected a demand from countries in Southeast Asia to dismantle its nuclear weapons. The country’s central news agency published a statement today (Monday) on behalf of Kim Yo Jong, the sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.
Yo Jong pushed back against the Southeast Asian bloc, ASEAN: "We reject the call for denuclearization, which is yet another expression of hostility toward a responsible nuclear state. Our nuclear capability will continue to be updated." She also described the regional forum’s call to denuclearize the Korean Peninsula as "foolish." According to her, "Pyongyang’s nuclear status is final, irreversible, and constantly updated. I warn the Southeast Asian bloc against acting as a 'hired spokesperson' for Washington."
Foreign ministers at the ASEAN regional forum last night expressed "deep concern" over North Korea’s ongoing nuclear and missile developments and emphasized the need for "lasting peace through a denuclearized Korean Peninsula."
