Trump: “Iran Knows It’s Coming—Now It’s Our Turn to Strike”

President Donald Trump told reporters at the White House that the U.S. plans to respond to the drone explosion at a port in Egypt: “We’re going to hit them very hard. They know it’s coming and can’t do anything about it. Now it’s our turn.”

After Iran’s missile attack overnight on an American base in Jordan, U.S. President Donald Trump sharpened his tone toward Tehran on Wednesday evening and declared that an American response is expected to get underway. According to Trump, the Iranian regime knows the strike is approaching and even tried to prevent it.

In a statement at the White House, he said: “We’re going to hit them very hard because it’s our turn, and the regime knows it’s coming—and they asked us not to do it.” He added that “the Iranians also tried to fire five rockets at us last night, but we intercepted all of them.” Later, he said: “We’ll see if we get a deal.”

Earlier, in a conversation with Fox News correspondent in Israel Trey Yingst, Trump issued another sharp threat toward Iran: “We’re going to hit Iran hard. We’re going to destroy them.” When asked at the White House about the explosion at the port in Egypt,  Trump replied: “I was briefed on it. It’s more of the same, but it will work out.”

Amid the regional tensions, Israel is also continuing its preparations for the possibility of escalation. The IDF and the security establishment are monitoring developments on the Iranian and Lebanese fronts, while Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu continues his series of meetings in Washington.

This evening, Netanyahu met with U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, a day after his meeting with Trump. After the meeting, the prime minister shared remarks Hegseth had made to him: “He told me something interesting. He told me, ‘We look at the world, and there are countries that have the will to fight alongside the U.S., but lack the capability. And there are countries that have the capability, but lack the will.’ He said: ‘Only in Israel do we see both the will and the capability.’ And what appreciation—for the people of Israel and for the IDF.”
