Accused of Spying for Iran: Northern Israel Man Allegedly Filmed Hospitals and Yoav Gallant’s Community

Another case of alleged espionage for Iran has been uncovered. An indictment was filed today (Thursday) in the Haifa District Court against Amir Hisham Mohammed Titi, 34, from the northern community of Bi'ina. He is accused of carrying out security-related assignments for Iranian intelligence operatives.

The indictment alleges that the defendant used his job as an ambulance driver to document President Isaac Herzog during his visit to the Western Galilee Hospital in Nahariya. He also documented Moshav Amikam, where former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant lived.

Titi was arrested at the end of last month by undercover operatives from the Border Police’s Tactical Brigade, following a joint operation by the Israel Security Agency and the Northern District Police’s Central Unit. The investigation found that Titi exploited his access to hospitals across Israel and passed his handler information about hospital preparedness during both routine periods and emergencies.

The investigation also found that Titi was sent on assignments requiring him to provide his handlers with documentation from various locations, including footage from Hostages Square in Tel Aviv while holding a sign with photos of hostages, as well as photographs from a protest at Horev Center in Haifa. In exchange for his assignments, Titi received tens of thousands of shekels, transferred through accounts belonging to family members and through payments to a digital wallet.

The Israel Security Agency and police said: "This is serious activity by a citizen of the State of Israel who assisted the enemy during wartime. The Israel Security Agency and Israel Police view with great severity any involvement by Israeli citizens in activity that endangers the security of the state and its citizens, and will continue to act in accordance with the authority granted to them by law and take every measure available to them in order to bring those involved in this activity to justice. We warn the public against attempts by the enemy to approach Israeli citizens, openly or under false pretenses, in order to carry out assignments, and call for vigilance in the face of such attempts."
