3 Israelis Detained After Crossing Into Syria

The IDF Spokesperson updated today (Tuesday) that overnight, three Israeli civilians arrived in the Mount Hermon area and crossed the border into Syrian territory. An IDF force dispatched to the scene worked to locate them and returned them to Israeli territory. The civilians, who were detained, were transferred to the Israel Police for further handling.

The military strongly condemned the incident, stating that "this is another case of serious disruption to operational activity and a danger to the security of IDF forces operating in the area. Law enforcement authorities are required to fully prosecute those involved, in order to prevent these civilians from repeatedly engaging in this phenomenon, which constitutes a criminal offense."

It should be noted that last week, the IDF called for stricter enforcement against those crossing into Syrian territory or southern Lebanon. Last week, an IDF force detained 11 young people who crossed into southern Lebanon, and the police asked the court to extend their detention. The Northern Magistrate's Court ordered their release, making do with issuing an order barring them from the northern region until 1/11/26.
