The IDF announced today (Wednesday) that, within less than half an hour, it carried out two strikes against commanders in the Hamas terrorist organization in central and northern Gaza. In one of the strikes, it targeted a platoon commander in the organization’s military wing who, according to the IDF, took part in the October 7 massacre and entered Israeli territory.

According to the military’s statement, the first strike was carried out shortly ago in the Nuseirat area of central Gaza and targeted the platoon commander. The IDF said that “the terrorist entered the territory of the State of Israel during the October 7 massacre.”

Shortly afterward, the IDF and the Shin Bet carried out another strike, this time in the Daraj Tuffah area. According to the statement, the target was another Hamas commander, and additional terrorists were struck alongside him. The military said the terrorists who were hit had been planning to carry out terrorist attacks against IDF forces operating in Gaza. The IDF said that “IDF forces under Southern Command are deployed in the area in accordance with the agreement and will continue operating to remove any immediate threat.”

Arab reports published earlier said there were casualties in additional strikes across Gaza. According to some reports, at least nine people were killed and several others were wounded in a strike in central Gaza City.

The Palestinian Interior Ministry claimed that “Israeli fighter jets struck the headquarters of the municipal police in Gaza City.” Reports offered differing accounts of the death toll: some said between three and six people were killed, while medical sources told the Reuters news agency that six people were killed. Other reports said at least nine people were killed.
