IDF Says It Killed Hamas Nukhba Commander Who Took Part in October 7 Attack

The IDF said this morning (Sunday) that it killed Abd al-Fattah Abu al-Eish yesterday (Shabbat) in a strike in Jabalia, in northern Gaza. Abu al-Eish was a Nukhba commander in Hamas’s military wing who took part in the raid into Israel during the October 7 massacre.

According to the military’s statement, Abu al-Eish had recently worked to advance terror plans against IDF forces and Israeli civilians. At the same time, he was involved in efforts to rebuild Hamas’s capabilities in Gaza, in what the military described as a systematic violation of the ceasefire.

Raed Adel Mohammed Alyan, an operative in Hamas’s military wing, was also killed in the same strike. The IDF said he, too, had recently been involved in advancing terror plans against military forces and Israeli civilians, as well as efforts to rebuild the organization’s capabilities.

The strike in Jabalia was carried out in response to the threat that, according to the IDF, the two men’s activities posed. The IDF Spokesperson’s statement said they “advanced terror plans against IDF forces and civilians of the State of Israel and worked to rebuild the organization’s capabilities, while systematically violating the ceasefire.”

The IDF specifically noted Abu al-Eish’s role in the events of October 7. According to the military’s statement, the Nukhba commander was among the Hamas terrorists who raided into Israel during the massacre. He later served as a Nukhba commander in the organization’s military wing until he was killed in the strike in northern Gaza.

The operation was carried out as IDF forces under Southern Command continue to be deployed in the area in accordance with the agreement. The IDF Spokesperson’s statement concluded: “IDF forces under Southern Command are deployed in the area in accordance with the agreement and will continue to act to remove any threat.”
