Iran Warns: In Another War, Its Weapons Would Be More Destructive

Iran’s Revolutionary Guard says Tehran would deploy more powerful weapons in any future conflict. The warning comes after Trump declared an “economic war” and cautioned countries against helping Tehran.

A spokesperson for Iran’s Revolutionary Guard, Hossein Mohabi, said today (Wednesday) that in the event of another military confrontation, Tehran intends to use weapons more powerful and destructive than those it has used in the past.

The Revolutionary Guard added: "The warheads used in Iranian missiles are far more destructive than those used in previous wars. Iran’s weapons will be completely different in every respect if another war breaks out."

The Iranian threat comes amid a significant escalation in rhetoric from Washington. U.S. President Donald Trump announced overnight a sweeping economic move against Iran, which he described as: "The most crushing economic operation ever undertaken against any country! This will be economic war and isolation on an unprecedented scale; it will be economic ‘D-Day.’"

Alongside the announcement of increased economic pressure on Tehran, Trump also issued a warning to other countries, making clear that, in the view of the U.S. administration, anyone helping Iran cope with the sanctions could face a steep economic price: "Any country that allows its financial institutions, businesses, airports, or government bodies to provide any kind of lifeline to Iran will itself face enormous economic consequences."

Trump also called on U.S. allies to support the move and take part in isolating Tehran. In his words, "The United States needs all its allies to stand with it, to isolate and defeat the Iranian threat."
