IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir held a multi-front situational assessment today (Thursday), during which he said that "the IDF is advancing combat procedures across all fronts, from Iran and Lebanon to Gaza, and we are at a high level of alert in the face of volatility on multiple fronts."

Zamir added that, in light of tensions in Judea and Samaria and the approaching holiday season, he instructed that the readiness level of an additional regular division headquarters be raised in order to reinforce forces in the area. In addition, units and battalions must be prepared for immediate deployment as reinforcements in the region. The IDF, across all its branches, will remain at full, multi-front readiness throughout the holiday period; there will be no stand-downs and no reduction in operational forces.

It should be noted that over the past week, reports have indicated concern within the IDF over an extreme escalation in Judea and Samaria ahead of the holiday season, against the backdrop of the election campaign. As part of the assessment, the possibility of canceling leave for combat soldiers was discussed.

The chief of staff also addressed disagreements with government ministries over the budget. In his words, "Unfortunately, these days we are also engaged in a battle over the budget. At a time when the IDF and its personnel are stretched across all fronts, we must contend with 'empty coffers.' Such a situation harms the IDF's readiness. We are focused on protecting the security of the State of Israel; this is the only consideration before our eyes! We will not be drawn into issues that may divert our focus and preparedness."

Finance Ministry officials responded: "The defense budget has nearly tripled; those leading the system must manage billions responsibly."
