Netanyahu Tours Gaza: “We Control 60% of the Territory; There’s More Work to Do”

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu toured the area near the Yellow Line in the Gaza Strip today (Wednesday). Accompanied by IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir, Netanyahu visited an IDF outpost. The visit was also attended by Southern Command chief Maj. Gen. Yaniv Asor and the commander of the “HaBazak” Division (99), Brig. Gen. Elad Zuri.

The prime minister received a briefing from commanders on the ground about IDF forces’ activity in the Yellow Line area, the operational missions in the sector, and efforts to remove threats and safeguard the security of the forces and nearby communities.

During the visit, Netanyahu said: “I am here inside the Gaza Strip with the chief of staff, the regional commander, and our brave commanders and soldiers. We control the territory here. You can see Ashkelon over there; you can see all of our communities in every direction: Sderot, Netivot, the kibbutzim.”

“We control the territory. We are not withdrawing. We are staying on this line. We control 60% of the Strip, and there is more to come, because we are eliminating the terrorists who threaten us. We do this time and again. Yesterday, we got Hamas’ Shin Bet chief. We will surely learn a few things.”

“But we are doing everything to reach our goal, disarming Hamas and demilitarizing Gaza. Gaza will no longer pose a threat to Israel. This goal has, in fact, largely already been achieved, and there is more work to complete, and we will complete it.”
