Trump Envoys Head to Moscow and Kyiv in Push for Russia-Ukraine Ceasefire

Russia’s TASS news agency reported today (Friday) that U.S. President Donald Trump’s envoys, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, will visit Moscow tomorrow and arrive in Kyiv on Sunday. The two are seeking to advance a ceasefire process that could help bring an end to the fighting between Russia and Ukraine.

It should be noted that this is expected to be their first visit to Ukraine since the current Trump administration took office.

As previously reported, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced about two weeks ago that Kyiv had submitted an official document to the United States containing its proposals for ending the war with Russia, which has been ongoing for more than four years. According to him, the proposals were delivered to American negotiating teams as part of Washington’s diplomatic efforts to advance an agreement that would halt the fighting.

In a statement, Zelensky said: "We presented our proposals to the American side. The United States can help strengthen our defense, first and foremost in the area of air defense, and pressure Russia to change its plans: to prepare for ending the war rather than prolonging it."

Meanwhile, Teva’s Ukrainian subsidiary announced that one of its warehouses was hit twice by Russian fire. No casualties were reported. Russian Air Force planes carried out airstrikes in several areas of Ukraine before dawn. Six people were reported injured as a result of Russian attacks in Kyiv. In addition, Russian artillery shelled areas along the Donetsk border, into Ukrainian territory. Explosions were also heard in the city of Kharkiv.

For its part, the Ukrainian Air Force launched a Kh-31P missile and 121 attack drones of various types into Russian territory overnight. Drones struck a Russian chemical plant in Sterlitamak and an oil depot in Sochi.
