After Brief Ceasefire, Russian Strike on Kyiv Kills 2

Russia attacked Kyiv early this morning (Tuesday) with drones and missiles, Ukraine’s military reported. The Russian attacks on Ukrainian cities resumed after a brief ceasefire during the visits of President Donald Trump’s envoys, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, to Kyiv and Moscow.

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said this morning that two civilians were killed and 10 others were injured in the city, after missile debris fell in one district and sparked fires in a five-story apartment building and a three-story residential building. He said the Russian attack struck at least 14 high-rise buildings, dormitories, a school, a clinic, warehouses and other sites.

"The moment the U.S. president’s peace envoys left, Russian President Putin launched another massive and horrific attack against Kyiv," Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said on X. "His ballistic missiles speak louder than his words about diplomacy," the Ukrainian minister added. "Allies must increase pressure on Moscow and provide ballistic missile interceptors, as Kyiv’s stockpile of them is critically low."

As previously reported, before the American envoys’ visit, Russia attacked Kyiv and several other major cities across Ukraine multiple times. More than 15 people were killed.

At the same time as the Russian attack, Ukraine’s military launched explosive drones into Russian territory, hitting civilian infrastructure and injuring people in the city of Saratov, on the banks of the Volga River, about 730 kilometers southeast of Moscow. The area is home to a major oil refinery operated by the state oil company Rosneft (ROSN.MM), as well as other industrial and military facilities.
