14-Year-Old Israeli Killed in Russian Drone Strike on Kyiv

A 14-year-old Israeli was killed Friday morning after a drone struck a residential building in Kyiv during a Russian attack on Ukraine’s capital. The Foreign Ministry said that Israel’s consul in Kyiv and the Consular Division’s department for Israelis in distress abroad have been handling the case since receiving the report. They are in ongoing contact with the teen’s family and are providing whatever assistance is needed.

The fatal strike occurred at around 8:00 a.m. in Kyiv’s central Pechersk district, as Russian jet-powered drones passed over the city and triggered air-raid alerts. According to Ukrainian police, an attack drone hit directly between the 10th and 11th floors of a 16-story residential tower. Buildings in other areas of Kyiv were also damaged.

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said the number of casualties across the city had risen to 20. Eight people were taken to hospitals, including a 9-year-old child. Earlier reports put the number of injured at seven, and police said the full extent of the casualties was still being determined.

According to the Ukrainian Air Force, Russia launched 282 attack drones of various types overnight, along with cruise and ballistic missiles, including Iskander and Zircon missiles. It was one of the most extensive attacks reported in recent months.
