The military said the killing was carried out after Aqila posed an immediate threat, in light of his recent activities against IDF forces and civilians in the State of Israel.
According to the official statement, the terrorist had recently advanced terror plans against IDF forces and civilians in the State of Israel and worked to rebuild the organization’s capabilities, in what the IDF described as a systematic violation of the ceasefire.
The IDF emphasized that, before the strike was carried out, several measures were taken to reduce as much as possible the risk of harm to civilians in the area. Among other things, the forces used precision munitions and aerial surveillance before the strike.
The IDF statement also said that "IDF forces in Southern Command are deployed in the area in accordance with the agreement and will continue operating to remove any immediate threat."
