Senior Hamas Figure Who Murdered Limor Son Har-Melech’s Husband Eliminated

The Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, Hamas’s military wing, announced today (Thursday) the death of terrorist Farah Hamed, who carried out the attack about 23 years ago in which Shuli Har-Melech, the husband of MK Limor Son Har-Melech, was murdered. Hamed, who was released from an Israeli prison in the Shalit deal, was eliminated in a targeted strike in southern Gaza.

The terrorist was part of the “Silwad cell,” which murdered Israelis during the Second Intifada. Those killed included Shuli Har-Melech, Esther Galia, Zvi Goldstein, Sgt. Elad Polak, Sgt. Roi Yaakov Solomon, and Staff Sgt. Erez Idan, of blessed memory.

He was released in the Shalit deal and deported to the Gaza Strip. During Operations Protective Edge and Guardian of the Walls, attempts were made to eliminate him after it became clear that he had returned to terrorism and taken on a senior role in Hamas’s military wing, but those attempts failed.

MK Limor Son Har-Melech, the widow of Shuli, of blessed memory, responded to the elimination of her husband’s murderer: “Another circle has been closed! Hamed was involved in a series of murderous attacks, was sentenced to three life terms, but was released in the Shalit deal and deported to Gaza. Instead of paying for his crimes, he returned to terrorism and became a central figure in Hamas’s West Bank headquarters, which directed attacks in Judea and Samaria.”

“Twenty-three years have passed since Shuli was murdered before my eyes. The pain does not fade and the longing does not let up, but today justice has been done. Let every terrorist who murdered Jews know this: even if he is released, even if he escapes, and even if many years pass, the long arm of the people of Israel will reach him. Thank you to the IDF soldiers and security forces who closed an important and painful circle today. May the memory of Shuli and all those murdered by the Silwad cell be blessed.”
