The incident occurred yesterday, as the IDF was preparing to carry out a strike against the operative. Following the change in the operational picture and concern that they could be harmed, the munition was diverted from its course so that it would not strike the civilians present at the scene.
The IDF explained that once the munition had been released, there was no longer any way to cancel it, so the option of diverting it from its course in real time was used. This prevented harm to the civilians gathered near the operative.
