U.S. Ambassador: America Will Respond if Britain Sanctions Jewish Communities in Judea and Samaria

U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee on Tuesday sharply criticized the British government’s intention to announce trade sanctions on Jewish communities in Judea and Samaria. In an interview with the BBC, Huckabee said: "There is no doubt that there will be an American response if Britain moves forward with the anticipated trade sanctions against Israeli communities in Judea and Samaria.”

Huckabee said the response could come both at the state level and the federal level. He warned that such a move against Israel could significantly affect British businesses, and that British companies may face bans on conducting business in several U.S. states.

It was reported last night that Britain will announce a trade ban on goods produced in Israeli communities in Judea and Samaria. Six weeks after taking office, British Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband said he is considering a change in Britain’s policy toward Israel and is expected to deliver a statement in the House of Commons on Israel and trade restrictions.

According to a Reuters report, Britain’s new prime minister, Andy Burnham, who took office about two months ago, spoke with U.S. President Donald Trump on Monday to emphasize the "importance of a two-state solution,” in what was seen as a reference to the sanctions.
