Trump: 'Failing Iran Wants a Deal, I’ll Decide Whether to Respond'

U.S. President Donald Trump posted this evening on his social media platform, Truth Social. In the brief statement, the president addressed Iran: "The failing nation of Iran wants to make a deal, quickly, decisively, and desperately. I will determine whether the United States chooses to engage and whether to respond, a notion we are open to."

The statement comes amid the ongoing military confrontation and economic pressure between the countries in 2026. As reported, Trump has stressed in recent days that Iran is "calling nonstop" and desperate for an agreement, but clarified that the United States "is in a strong negotiating position and will not sign a deal that is not good or one that would allow Iran to obtain nuclear weapons.

Yesterday, referring to the war with Iran and contacts between Gulf states and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, the American president said that "he has no objection to it." When asked what he thought of the move, he replied: "I don't care. It's up to them."

Trump added that, from his perspective, "as long as Israel, together with the countries we're talking about, is satisfied, it's fine. The war could end even before the midterm elections, but it will end after the midterm elections."
